Subject: Anchor East House Concert: ORKESTRA KEYIF: Old-Style Turkish Urban Folk Music, Sunday, March 21 '04 - 4:30 pm
We do house concerts here at Anchor East only once in a great while, when a great opportunity comes along, like this one. My friend Beth Cohen is a local violinist/fiddler who has been a musical inspiration to many of us over the years. This is a chance to hear her with a great ensemble:
Oyun Havalari! Taksimler! Ciftetelliler! Turkuler!
Special Event: An intimate house concert by Orkestra Keyif - A late afternoon house concert of acoustic, old-style Turkish urban folk music.
Orkestra Keyif is composed of seasoned players of a wide range of Middle Eastern and Balkan repertoires. Come join us for a concert of old-style Turkish urban folk music performed by Beth Cohen (violin and yayli tanbur), Brenna MacCrimmon (vocals), Paul Brown (bass), Polly Tapia (percussion) and Haig Manoukian (oud).
TIME: Sunday, March 21, 2004 - 4:30 pm
Suggested sliding scale contribution $10-15
Watertown, MA location (directions provided with your reservation confirmation).

Space is very limited! We expect many enthusiasts from the Balkan and Middle Eastern music and dance community to be interested, but I wanted to make sure the Anchor East house concert folks also had a chance to hear this extraordinary music from one of the world's deepest traditions.
